My walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has been challenging yet rewarding.

My values, thinking, actions as well as my view on life and money has been challenged on this journey with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It has not been easy because along the way, I had to make tough decisions.  After I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I made a decision that I was going to read the word every day and I was going to go to church every Sunday. A few months later, I was back to square one, not reading the Word, not going to church as much as I used to.

I learnt that it’s a journey and I have to be patient with myself.  What was amazing was that God did not leave me even when I left Him.

In the first week of November 2015, I called my mom to tell her that I had sorted out her medical aid queries. When I called her, my sister picked up the phone and told me mommy was in hospital. Mom? Hospital? No man, she was fine a few days back. I was in Pretoria busy preparing for my final exams of my Undergraduate Degree at the University of Pretoria. I would call my sister every day to find out how she was doing and her answer was very positive, all the time. During this testing period, I kept on praying for God to give mommy strength and courage.

On Tuesday, the 10th of November, just as I was about to get ready to go to varsity and study, I got a phone call from my dad that he was at the gate. He was here to fetch me so that we could go and visit mom at the hospital. I was excited to see mommy because my sister told me that she was recovering very well. I packed my bags quickly and went home with my dad. When my dad dropped me off, he told me that he would be back to pick me up later so we could go and see mom. As I walked into the house, my uncle said, “Boy”, and tears started falling from his eyes and I said, “What’s wrong?” He said, “Your mom has passed away!” According to the doctors, she suffered her second stroke, went into the Intensive Care Unit and she never made it out. Shocked, speechless and confused were the emotions that I was experiencing. A few moments after I heard the news, I went into my aunts rooms and I prayed. I didn’t question God but I thanked him for my mom and her life. I lost my mom at the point where my relationship with Christ was getting stronger and I was challenged.

What kept me going was the Word of God and believing in the word of God.  Impression without expression causes depression. We must act on what we know and practice what we claim to believe.

During this period, a friend of mine shared this with me, “Are you being tested like Job? Perhaps the Lord is trying to develop some aspects of your character- faith, love and hope. Some of these might never be discovered if it weren’t for trials. Hard times are often the dark background against which God sets the jewels of His children’s faint, hope and love – they shine all the brighter.

Count on this: God often sends us trials to help us discover new attributes of our Christianity and not only to discover them, but to grow in them.

God often takes away or comforts and privileges in order to make us better Christians.

My heart overflows with Gratitude for who Jesus is and what he has done. God is so able and faithful. God is so amazing!!!God can turn your Breakdowns into breakthroughs, Rejections into Directions, Trials and Tribulations into Triumph, Mess into a message, Tragedies into strategies, only if you trust, love, honor and obey Him!

You can maybe discuss Christians influencing ( Have an effect on…) the business sphere and being whatever God has called them to be

In the business sphere, Christians must strive to become the light and role models in the way that business is run. There is a lot of corruption and people are putting a high premium on money and wealth than on character and relationships. Let’s us put a high premium on relationships and character than fame, money, wealth and achievements. As God takes us from Glory to Glory and we excel in the business sphere, lets us not just honor God with our mouths but also with our finances.

Malachi 3; 10; “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will be not be room enough to store it”

God has called us to be bold and to be a light in the world and everywhere we go. The reason why many Christians don’t not become a light in the world is because they don’t know who they are and they have forgotten whose they are. Identity is a necessity for prosperity. We are living according to what people say about us and not what God says about us. Make a decision to live according to what God says about you.  Many people may have written you and you feel like you are alone. Remember Philippians 1;6, God is not finished with me yet!

My walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has been challenging yet rewarding.

 With Love,SM.
