Our Rising Passion Piece is from Desiree Rubadiri, a returning writer and a highschooler who who loves God. She enjoys the wonders of nature that God has given to us. She was born in Botswana but her heritage is from all over the world. Some of her hobbies are singing, writing, playing basketball and doing hair. Early on Sunday morning my family and I were preparing for church. My papa told me that in God’s house you will always be safe. It was the only time my brother and I could ever leave the house. We had stopped attending school three months ago. The civil war in Uganda was diffusing throughout the country and so was Kony’s propaganda. I could understand why papa had restricted us. We already lost mama when she went to the shops a few months back.

God spoke the world into being. Words have the power to create the life we want to live by creating mental images of that life. Action makes it possible to realize that vision. Praying is simply asking, making a request to God. Talking to God as you would a friend.

I am a product of prayer, mine and others. I believe you are too. That is why I strongly believe that after praying we should go on and live like we really placed our issues in the master’s hands.

The book of Numbers, chapter 17, presents the remarkable tale of Aaron’s rod. The story starts off with God expressing His desire to silence the rebellious murmurings against the anointed priesthood order, which were incited by a failed coup d’état by, the now deceased, Korah and company.

Are we running from God or to Him? Heading away on the highway of life, or returning home? Or doing the back and forth route which seems to be fun? Sadly this world is full of ‘prodigal sons’, going their way for a while and then desperate to find their way home, but not knowing which way to go. They think of running away from home. Simply for reasons best known to themselves. Independence, self-confidence, autonomy you name it.
