2016 for me got off to a really good start. I was living the dream. But the later part of it was just like the chaotic mass in Gen 1.

I was an emotional mess. Hey don’t laugh, guys get emotional too. I couldn’t focus on work. I had no idea how I was going to pay for our website to stay online and I knew we had to stay online.

During the year we received really great testimonies from readers of that magazine. The thought of neglecting all those readers shook me to the core but I was helpless.

But God! He has this habit of showing up right when we need Him most. At my weakest He showed up for me with this message I’m sharing with you now.

He impressed it on my heart that, “if I want to be successful I have to be intentional about fulfilling the vision He’s entrusted to me.” That got me thinking.

Have you ever thought about God’s success? He is the ultimate success. We’ve read success stories of people who started with nothing but today their names are synonymous with success.

The greatest of them all is God! From a void and formless earth He created something magnificently beautiful. Billions of dollars have been generated in the tourism industry because of His creations. All the beauty we pay large sums to see was a chaotic mass at one point.

What is God’s secret to all this success? He is intentional. That’s the secret to success; being intentional about success.

Being intentional simply means doing something on purpose. It means you’re doing it because you want to do it. And more than that, you’re fully aware of the results of your actions.

Being aware of the results requires you to study the situation. This helps with figuring out what you need to achieve your desired result. It’ll also let you know what getting your desired result demands from you, your sacrifice.

What if you don’t get your desired result? You go back to the drawing board, adjust your strategy and try again. It won’t hurt because you’re intentional. Don’t stop until you’ve reached your intended goal.

The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.Gen 1:2 (AMP)

I love the Amplified Bible’s translation of this verse. It shows us exactly what the spirit of God was doing when He was moving over the chaotic mass. He was brooding, thinking deeply about the situation (studying), envisioning the result that God desired.

When God was satisfied and fully aware of what He needed and what the situation demanded from Him (speaking it into existence), He started doing just that.

God performed the acts that were consistent with the result He wanted to achieve. Those results surround us today.

God has entrusted to us His vision for world evangelism. This requires time, dedication and meaningful commitment to excellence. I intend to be remarkably successful at this. For that to happen I have to sacrifice some relationships and friendships to create time for God’s  business. I’ve made peace with this.

Truly speaking there is no way to create time. We all have 24 hours in a day. So creating time means taking time from things that don’t feed my purpose and using that time to invest in achieving remarkable success.

Success for God means more to me than being a reliable friend.

Can you kindly share how you’re planning to achieve remarkable success this year in the comments? Staying tuned to Rising Tswana is a sure way to stay inspired to succeed. Wish you a prosperous 2017!

  1. I have found turning away invitations to follow Gods direction is such a heart splitting issue, but its worth it and the peace that comes after the obedience is a pleasant reward. Honestly sometimes we are caught up in events and matters of life that are good but outside God’s will leaving us burnout and unfulfilled. It is only when we are in-sync with Holy Spirit’s motion that fulfillment sprouts in our souls, our light shines to the Glory of God and salvation of souls. My goal this year is to make time with and for God a priority against all possible opportunities, frankly not all opportunities are opportunities.
