Who Are You

Phomolo Wendy Matleelane loves reading, writing poetry and jotting down insights. She attends Compass International Ministries. She currently works as a Research Assistant at the Ministry of Local Government in Gaborone. God has faithfully pursued her with His love for so many years. For Him, she waits. Enjoy!

The current struggle that we have today inside and outside the church is fitting in. It is apparent often God allows things to happen to us to rock our boats so that we come to our senses. You can call it a mighty divine interruption as we are on our way to distraction onto the rails of destiny. Then only do we get time to be touched by God. It reminds me of the former Saul of Tarsus who later became the famous epistle writer of all time Apostle Paul. The Bible records that while on his way to Tarsus on a very passionate mission to massacre Christians, the Lord appeared to him. I mean Jesus turned his horse upside down, log stalk and barrel, which left him struck blind for a period that lasted 3 days. The whole encounter changed Saul’s life completely and generationally continues to change our lives today. Hence the poem below…….!

MARK 10:46 “Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want me to do for you? “The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.”

Amazing, how this man is forever described by his situation, “son of Timaeus”,“the blind man”, “the beggar”….its happened to quite a number of us. But I know a God, who can change all that, I know a God who sees beyond situations, I know a God who has plans for me, plans to prosper me, plans for my good, plans to anoint me, to make my cups overflow, to lead me besides still waters, to lead me to those clear still waters… I know a God that is able.

She believes building a strong nation starts by first building strong families and youth. Writing and reciting poetry are the voice GOD has given her to express HIS mind and to speak order into our societies, to encourage the broken hearted and mostly to point people to Christ. For her poetry is not a performance but a ministry and chance to heal hearts and speak for Christ. Enjoy!

The poem titled ‘You Stay’ was written at a time in my life when I felt like I was drifting from GOD yet I could experience HIS love and care for me more than before. I could see details of HIM pursuing me even when I wasn’t pursuing HIM. I didn’t seem to be making any effort to seek HIS  face. But when I was overwhelmed with shame, I kept on sensing HIS love in my life.

He Is

This weeks’ poem is from the incomparable Vivien who has written a poem for us titled ‘My Idol’. She is a Musical Worship coordinator at Open Baptist Church in Gaborone. Her singular goal in life is to learn what pleases the Lord and to do that smile emoticon. It’s an exercise in faith, without which it is impossible to please Him.

HE IS….   He is, He was, He will be

He lives, He reigns, He still sees

He is the logarithm that pierces through the chasm

He is the radiance of God’s glory

The beginning and end of Jehovah’s story

~

He is the embodiment of Philosophy

He is the creator of Psychology To this day

He has no contemporary

He cannot abide by those that reason diagonally

He is no mere Visionary, Missionary He is the originator of Sociology
